BIO-SKETCH: Radio Broadcast Ministry to Russia —– Serguei was born in 1971 to a family of unbelievers in Communist Russia. At age 13 he heard his first Christian radio program and on his next birthday received his own short wave radio. Through listening to the Christian radio programs Serguei resolved the contradictions in his life, seeking God, attending Moscow Baptist Church and relinquishing his Communist beliefs. In 1990, as a new Christian, Serguei hosted a talk show and a couple years later served with HCJB World Radio in Quito, Ecuador. A few years later he came to the U.S. and attended Reformed Bible College, then went to seminary at Calvin College. While at Calvin he began to translate English sermons into the Russian for airing. He was ordained as a minister in December 2002. THE WORK: Serguei’s ministry focus is the former Soviet Union, as well as Russian-speaking people in Europe and Asia. Serguei does two 15-minute weekly broadcasts. One targets at non-believers who are interested in spiritual issues and the other is aimed at Russian pastors, church leaders and Christian activists. Serguei makes frequent trips to Russia to make contacts and meet with Christians. e-mail Serguei at: ssosedkin@crcna.org |
