BIO-SKETCH: Chaplain with Light Bearers—–Rev. Ron Clay and his wife have been married for 26 years. Together they have four children; Ron, Jr. (24), Rachel (23), David (21) and Lucy (18). Rev. Clay had previously worked in the business world before beginning his work as chaplain at the Oak Forest Hospital. He himself was a patient at one time at the Oak Forest Hospital. During his stay in the hospital Chaplain Ron saw not only the need for the healing of the body but for spiritual healing in patients as well. It was this experience that lead him to take the position (which he has had for 5 years) as chaplain with The Light Bearers at the hospital. THE WORK: The uniqueness of the Light Bearers has been its ability to minister in public institutions. Full and part-time Light Bearer chaplains serve in many institutions. Rev. Ron Clay spends a lot of his time praying and ministering to the sick and shut-in of the long and short term patients at Oak Forest Hospital. A benefit of Rev. Clay being a previous patient is the hope that he brings to the patients he ministers to. When patients learn of his story they too are encouraged. They have hopes of healing for themselves as well. For those patients they not only receive hope for physical healing but a hope in their spiritual walk with Jesus. Rev. Clay shares that the evidence of God’s work is exciting. To see someone who has committed their life to Jesus and to see them receive healing and deliverance from their ailments and walk out of the hospital is truly God touching lives. |
