BIO-SKETCH: Health Care – Dr. Jose Luis Guerrero could be seen as a peaceful and Christian Che’ Guevara — a man who has a vision for the poor and compassion for the underprivileged. Dr. Jose Luis grew up in a traditional Catholic family. He didn’t hear of Jesus Christ until he was 19 years old. He married soon after he graduated from medical school, but then turned away from God. Nine years ago Jose Luis rededicated his life to Christ. Dr. Jose Luis and his wife have 3 sons; Jose Luis (28) who is a Computer Engineer, Pablo Daniel (26) studying Business Administration, and Gustavo (24) who is a Mechanic Engineer. Now they are grandparents because they have a grandson Jonathan Israel who next August 20th will be 2 years. From March of 2007 Dr. Guerrero resigned to his job as doctor of emergencies in a Hospital to work fulltime in the vine of God. THE WORK: Dr. Jose Luis works out of a one-room shack that is used by government doctors. It has no glass windows and has a small medicine cabinet which holds its meager supplies. In spite of its look of an abandoned shack the people from Por Venir know that they can find consistent health care. Alcoholism, prostitution and kids living on the streets are growing concerns for Por Venir. It is said that it is the open ear that many are drawn to at the clinic. After exams find nothing wrong patients open up about spousal abuse, family issues or other problems. Dr. Betty, who works with Dr. Jose Luis, says, “the medicine I give them is Jesus Christ.” Dr. Jose Luis just opened a new clinic and he can be found waiting for patients three times a week, offering an open ear and a willing heart. Ministry Update and items of prayer Thanks God with the support of Luke Society and OPCRC we are constructing for almost 1 year and 9 months a building which we called "Center for Attention of Children in Risk", the new building now has working three classrooms where we teach the children about Jesus and about the God's word and school classes too. In the second stage we have now 4 rooms that very soon will work as workshops to teach to the teenagers some offices like electricity, computation, bakery and manufacture of clothes. We just need the funds to buy the equipment. In the third stage (actually is the level of the street) we are constructing now (with the additional support of a Mexican enterprise of cement) a new clinic to continue attending to the children who live in poverty. This ministry that began like a dream which God put on our heart have grow so much that we never could imagine, now we are almost 20 people working (most as volunteer) to give life in abundance in the Jesus' name to the children in risk.
