Brad & Deb Voltmer Wycliff Bible Translators |
|
BIO-SKETCH: Wycliffe Bible Translators — Brad and Deb have three children; Robert, Daniel and Elizabeth. Brad was saved at age 6 through the witness of his Sunday School teacher; Deb was saved when she made profession of faith at age 16. Brad and Deb always felt the desire to work in missions and witness to non-Christians. THE WORK: The Voltmer’s main goal with Wycliffe in Papua New Guinea is to see the lives of the Saep people transformed by the Word of God. They have translated the books of Ruth and Mark and are currently working to translate the Gospel of John. They have also translated selected passages from Genesis. Until this past year there was one other translator working with Brad, now he has been joined by four more. In Papua New Guinea there has been limited interest in the Scriptures, but this past year Brad and Deb held a Sunday School teacher’s training session which was well received and well attended. The people have requested more of these training seminars. Brad hopes to be doing Bible studies with the local church elders in order to show them how Scripture impacts daily life to help them be better leaders. As they continue to work on translation, they also hope to add more in-depth Bible studies and print more reading material for the school and the adults. Brad works from their house but there are plans to build a translation office. email Brad at: Brad_voltmer@sil.org email Deb at: Deb_voltmer@sil.org |
